A 30-year-old Taneytown man, charged with kidnapping his estranged wife, was released on $10,000 bond yesterday in District Court.

Kevin Lee Few of 3900 block of Diehl Road also was charged with false imprisonment, assault, battery, unauthorized use of an automobile and driving on a suspended and revoked license. Other charges include taking and driving an automobile without the owner's consent, trespassing and violation of an Aug. 8 restraining order. He was released after posting 10 percent of his original $100,000 bond.

State police had arrested Mr. Few on a warrant earlier yesterday.

District Court charging documents said Mr. Few's wife, Rene, and their two children were staying at the home of her mother and stepfather near Hampstead. Mr. Few went there about 2:30 p.m. Saturday and asked Mrs. Few to go out with him to eat, the documents said.

When the woman refused, the documents said, the man took the couple's two children from the house and placed them in his wife's car.

The woman told police she was then forced to drive from Hampstead to Taneytown, where her husband grabbed the ignition keys, got out of the car and pulled her out of the driver's seat. When he got into the driver's seat, the woman said she got HTC into the front passenger seat because her two children were in the rear of the car, the charging documents said.

Police said the man drove around for the next two hours, going from Taneytown to Emmitsburg, Thurmont, Littlestown, Pa., and back to Hampstead.

No one was injured, police said.
