Two men arrested after crack cocaine is found in car

August 10, 1995

County police arrested two Glen Burnie men yesterday morning on drugs charges after they stopped a speeding car and found more than $4,000 worth of crack cocaine, officials said.

Northern District Officer William T. Bertram was operating a radar gun at Belle Grove Road and Thomas Avenue about 2:25 a.m., when a 1991 Ford truck sped by. He stopped the truck and saw the passenger try to hide bags under his left leg. He searched both men and found three bags of cocaine and a pipe on the passenger and three more bags of cocaine and $581 on the driver, police said.

Officer Bertram then searched the inside of the truck and found a waist pack containing 13 bags of cocaine and 60 assorted pills between the passenger seat and door. The total weight of the cocaine was 42.5 grams with a street value of $4,250, police said.

Justin Orville Johns, 36, of the 100 block of South Meadow Drive -- whom police identified as the driver of the truck -- and Charles Lee Walker, 39, of the first block of Ninth Avenue, were charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, police said.
