Man robbed after providing a ride home

August 09, 1995

A Pasadena man who tried to do a good deed and give a man a lift home Monday night found himself the victim of a strong-arm robbery, county police said.

David Ralph White Sr. of the 8400 block of Alvin Road was driving home a man he knew only by a nickname.

When he pulled to the side of the street on Hog Neck Road about 11 p.m. to let his passenger out, the man grabbed and twisted Mr. White's arm. The mugger then took the victim's wallet and ran.

Police showed Mr. White a photo lineup from which he picked out a suspect.

Wayne Lee Gray, 34, of the 8100 block of Elizabeth Road in Pasadena was charged on a warrant with robbery, assault with intent to rob, theft and battery.

Police said the suspect has not been found.
