Light rail stop may reopen

August 09, 1995

The Lexington Market light rail stop could reopen today in Baltimore if engineers complete an assessment of the stability of the former Stewart & Co. department store on Howard Street, where a block of concrete fell to the sidewalk Sunday, forcing the closing of the stop.

"Once they give us final clearance, we will reopen the stop," said Anthony Brown, a spokesman for the state Mass Transit Administration. "We anticipate the completion of the assessment by [today]."

Until the stop reopens, the most convenient stops are at Baltimore Street or Centre Street.
