Chicago White Sox -- Announced the retirement of DH John Kruk.

Kansas City Royals -- Sent DH Bob Hamelin to Triple-A Omaha. Called up P Scott Anderson from Omaha. Moved P Chris Haney from the 15-day to the 60-day DL.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Signed P Derek Lilliquist to a minor-league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Montreal Expos -- Recalled P Dave Leiper from Triple-A Ottawa. Optioned P Ugueth Urbina to Ottawa. Traded OF Lou Frazier to the Texas Rangers for a player to be named.

Texas Rangers -- Recalled 3B Luis Ortiz from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Placed 3B Steve Buechele on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.

Toronto Blue Jays -- Placed P Danny Cox and P Darren Hall on the 15-day DL. Moved P Duane Ward from the 15-day to the 60-day DL. Called up P Paul Menhart and P Jimmy Rogers from Triple-A Syracuse.

Football

Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL) -- Added SB Andrew Martin to the practice roster.

Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL) -- Activated G Scott Hendrickson and WR Elbert Turner from the injured list. Released LB Timothy Broady. Placed DT Wayne Drinkwalter on the injured list.
