25 Years Ago (Week of July 19-25, 1970)

* Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Reitz appeared before the zoning board to request permission to build a commercial florist shop and greenhouse on four acres of their residential property at Route 108 and Cedar Lane. Several residents of the Village of Harpers Choice appeared at the hearing to voice their protest of the proposed change.

* It was announced that a new child care facility would be opened at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center. 50 Years Ago (Week of July 22-28, 1945):

* Howard County's State Guardsmen made a good showing at the 7th Battalion's 10-day encampment. Ellicott City resident Sgt. Irvin Dasher attained top honors on the rifle range, and received a Brigade Medal from Gov. Herbert R. O'Conor.
