Owens, Baysox top Portland

BOWIE -- Billy Owens hit a two-run homer in the first to lead the Bowie Baysox to a 5-3 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs before 7,486 in a Double-A Eastern League game at Prince George's County Stadium yesterday.

The Baysox (53-51) stayed within a half-game of the Trenton Thunder in the South Division.

Bowie starter Garrett Stephenson pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings to even his record at 7-7.

The Baysox's Nos. 3, 4 and 5 hitters -- T. R. Lewis, Owens and Scott McClain -- went a combined 6-for-12 with three RBIs and scored all five runs.
