McClain homers twice Baysox rip Sea Dogs, 15-6

RICHMOND, VA. — BOWIE -- Scott McClain hit two home runs and drove in five runs to lead the Bowie Baysox to a 15-6 win over the visiting Portland Sea Dogs last night in a Double-A Eastern League game.

The Baysox (52-50) scored 12

runs in the first three innings and led 15-2 after five innings.

Greg Knowles pitched 6 1/3 innings of relief to get the win. Knowles struck out five and allowed four earned runs.

Billy Owens also had a big night, going 2-for-5 with four RBIs for Bowie. The Sea Dogs dropped to 63-40 with the loss.

Red Wings 7, Braves 0

RICHMOND, Va. -- John Dettmer pitched a two-hitter and struck out six to lead Rochester past Richmond in a Triple-A International League game.

Shortstop Greg Smith (Glenelg) homered and drove in four runs for the Red Wings, who scored twice in the first inning and broke open the game with a five-run fourth.

Damon Buford drove in a run, scored twice and stole a base.
