* Winfield: Firefighters from Winfield, Mount Airy and Lisbon of Howard County were dispatched to a mobile home fire in the 5900 block of Woodbine Road at 9:33 p.m. Monday. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the state fire marshal's office. Officials said the fire, which started in the kitchen, was confined to the trailer. Damage was estimated at $6,000. Firefighters were out for two hours and 30 minutes.

Officials said Jacqueline Brown, the only occupant of the 12-by-60-foot mobile home, discovered the fire as she returned home after visiting a neighbor. No one was injured.

Winfield firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide detector sounding in a house in the 13000 block of Old Annapolis Road at 6:26 a.m. Monday. They were out for 26 minutes.

* Mount Airy: Mount Airy firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in the 700 block of Watersville Road, Howard County, at 9:55 p.m. Monday. Units were out for one hour.
