July 26, 1995

Two men robbed a Glen Burnie Subway shop Monday night of an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.

The men entered the store in the 300 block of Hospital Drive about 9:20 p.m. One of them pulled out a black 9 mm handgun and ordered the clerk to hand over the money from the cash register, police said.

The clerk gave the second man -- who was not armed -- money from the register, and both men left the store. The clerk saw them walking east through the shopping center toward Mountain Ridge Drive, police said.

Both robbers were black males in their mid-20s. One is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt, white shorts and a white baseball hat. The second man was about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed about 145 pounds. He had a goatee and mustache and was wearing a red-and-black shirt and black shorts.

Pizza delivery woman robbed by gunman

A gunman robbed a Papa John's pizza delivery woman Monday night and fired a shot into the ground as he walked away, county police said.

Cynthia Ann Phillips, 38, had just made a delivery to an apartment in the 200 block of Wood Hill Drive about 10:30 p.m. when she was approached by a man. The man whipped out a handgun, reached into her apron and took an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The gunman walked away, fired the shot, got into a car and drove away. He is described as a black male about 30 to 35 years old. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall with a chunky build. He was wearing a yellow button-down shirt with small print and solid-colored shorts, police said.
