Think cold. Ice skating on Maryland Public Television offers a midsummer respite, while Alaska is the setting of the final original episode of "Northern Exposure," airing on CBS

* "An Evening of Championship Skating" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., MPT, Channels 22, 67) -- Look at the icy surface and imagine it's cool outside. Olympic medalist Paul Wylie is the host of an exhibition by top skaters including Nancy Kerrigan, Michelle Kwan, Todd Eldridge, and pairs Rocky Marvel and Calla Urbansky and Oleg and Ludmilla Protopopov.

* "Christy" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- Another new episode poses a community dilemma: Is it true generosity or just a land grab when a lumber company owner offers to buy property from needy residents of Cutter's Gap? Christy (Kellie Martin) and Dr. McNeil (Stewart Finlay-McLennan) disagree. CBS.

* "Beverly Hills, 90210" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., Channel 45) -- In a repeat from March, Alex Trebek plays himself, posing the answers as Brandon, Clare and Andrea (Jason Priestly, Kathleen Robertson and Gabrielle Carteris) vie to compete on a student edition of "Jeopardy!" Fox.

* "Northern Exposure" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- Say goodbye to the quirky denizens of fictional Cicely, Alaska, whose charm over the last five seasons grew from the fact they really represented facets of all of us. In the series' finale, Maurice (Barry Corbin) invites many members of the community to his vacation lodge, and the hour turns into an exercise in reflection. CBS.

* "Dateline NBC" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- The hot-button presidential campaign issue of affirmative action is the topic of a town meeting that asks the question: "Fairness or Favoritism?" NBC.

Cable

* "I Love Trouble" (8 p.m.-10:05 p.m., Showtime) -- The trouble with this 1994 bust is you never believe the big, big stars love each other. You just imagine a story "pitch" in a producer's office: "Julia Roberts. Nick Nolte. Rival reporters on the same mystery story. Can't miss!"

* "Dream On" and The Larry Sanders Show" (10 p.m.-10:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.-11 p.m., HBO) -- Do you think these episodes were coordinated? In the first, Martin (Brian Benben) makes eyes at his ex-wife's best friend (Annette O'Toole), but learns her eyes are, er, elsewhere. And in the second, Hank (Jeffrey Tambor) is uncomfortable with a new assistant who turns out to be gay (Scott Thompson, of "The Kids in the Hall").
