Baysox rally falls short, 6-5

PAWTUCKET, R.I. — BOWIE -- Bowie's rally from five runs down fell short when Billy Owens grounded out with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, and the Binghamton Mets beat the Baysox, 6-5, in a Double-A Eastern League game last night. The Baysox were down 6-1 in the sixth inning and rallied to 6-4 going into the ninth.

Red Wings 8, Red Sox 5

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Damon Buford, Brad Tyler and Greg Smith each drove in a pair of runs as Rochester defeated Pawtucket in a Triple-A International League game. Buford, who went 3-for-6, led off the game with a home run.

Tourists 4, Suns 1

HAGERSTOWN

HAGERSTOWN -- John Fantauzzi hit a two-run homer in the second inning to lead Asheville over Hagerstown in a Single-A South Atlantic League game.
