Howard County police are seeking a link between two robberies in east Columbia early yesterday, each involving two youths in black stocking masks who robbed their victim at gunpoint outside an apartment building.

In the first incident, a man was confronted at 12:45 a.m. outside Autumn Crest Apartments in the 5600 block of Stevens Forest Road in Oakland Mills village. One robber carried what appeared to be a silver-colored semiautomatic handgun, possibly a 9 mm weapon. Police said the victim was forced to give up his wallet, but he was not injured.

The second robbery took place about 1:15 a.m. outside Locust Park Apartments in the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court in Long Reach village. The victim said the robbers grabbed him, placed what appeared to be a .45-caliber Magnum against his head and took his wallet. He was not injured.

Anyone with information should call county police at 313-2220.
