Shootings leave 1 dead, 2 hurt in E. Baltimore

July 17, 1995|By From Staff Reports

Police officers investigating a double shooting in East Baltimore heard a gunshot early yesterday in yet another act of violence in the neighborhood -- one that proved fatal.

In the first incident, two 17-year-olds were wounded by a pair of unidentified assailants about 1:15 a.m. in the 1700 block of Patterson Park Ave., police said.

Officers were investigating that attack when they heard the blast of a gun that killed Brian Anthony Johnson, 21, two blocks away near his home in the 1800 block of N. Collington Ave.

Police said the target in the first incident appeared to be George Blain of the 1700 block of Montford Ave., who was shot in the abdomen and admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital.

But Niecey Wilson of the 1700 block of Patterson Park Ave. also was hit, apparently because she was in the line of fire. She was released after treatment at Hopkins for a wrist wound, police said.
