Second motel robbed in week by stick-wielding suspect

July 14, 1995

For the second time in about a week, a man brandishing a large stick has robbed a motel along U.S. 50 in Arnold.

County police said Suzanne McKee, 33, was at the front desk of the Howard Johnson Motel in the first block of Old Mill Bottom Road, when a man came in about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday night and asked for a single room.

Ms. McKee gave him a desk card to sign in. As the man filled out the card, he told Ms. McKee, "Now give me your money," and pulled out a large stick and held it to her neck, police said.

Ms. McKee complied, and the man ran from the hotel heading east on Old Mill Bottom Road, police reported.

On July 4, a man armed with a stick walked into the Days Inn in the 1500 block of Whitehall Road about 9:45 p.m. and walked out several minutes later with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said it is likely the same man committed both robberies.

The bandit is a white male about 5 feet 5 inches tall. He weighs 130 to 135 pounds and is 20 to 22 years old. He has light brown nappy hair and was last seen wearing a white or

gray T-shirt and blue jeans.
