Man charged in robbery of woman working on car

A 25-year-old Columbia man was charged with robbing a woman while she tinkered with her car on an east Columbia parking lot Tuesday night, Howard County police said.

According to police, a man approached the woman in the 6400 block of Dobbin Road, put a sharp object against her back, took her wallet and ran. The woman was not injured.

Carlton Charles Murray Jr. of the 6000 block of Majors Lane was released on $5,000 bond Wednesday, a District Court commissioner said.

Police said Mr. Murray was arrested after the victim gave them a description of the suspect.
