ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Myers grows into leader

Randy Myers has been renowned for his fake grenades and hunting knives and camouflage gear. But this year, Chicago Cubs manager Jim Riggleman said, Myers has been a leader, often going to Riggleman when he thinks a fellow reliever needs to be talked to, or needs to get in a game.

Myers said: "Those other guys are doing a good job setting me up, and my job is, if they have any problems, to protect them. . . . I'll try to help them out."
