3 injured as 2 cars collide at Liberty, Klee Mill roads

Three people were flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after a two-car crash on Liberty Road at Klee Mill Road about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Kathleen Flohr Hopkins, 38, of the 2200 block of Sandymount Road, was a passenger in a 1987 Mercedes Benz driven by her husband, Samuel Hopkins. She was in critical condition yesterday evening, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Mr. Hopkins, 41, was released from the trauma center on Monday.

State police said Mr. Hopkins was driving east on Route 26 and made a left turn into the path of a westbound car driven by Harvey Irvin Tegeler Jr. Mr. Tegeler, 40, of the 2200 block of Brightspot Drive, Westminster, was admitted in serious condition, hospital officials said.

Officers said charges are pending against Mr. Hopkins.

FIRE

* Eldersburg: Sykesville and Gamber were dispatched to investigate the report of a fire alarm sounding in a building on Progress Way at 4:20 p.m. yesterday. Units were out for 20 minutes.

Sykesville was dispatched to investigate the report of a fire alarm sounding in a building on Country Fair Lane at 8:58 a.m. Sunday. Units were out for 20 minutes.

Sykesville responded to a van fire in the 1700 block of Liberty Road at 3:16 p.m. Saturday. Units were out for 34 minutes.

* Gamber: Gamber responded to an auto fire on Gamber Road at 5:14 a.m. yesterday. Units were out for one hour.
