National League -- Announced that Cincinnati Reds P John Smiley will replace injured Atlanta Braves P Greg Maddux on the All-Star team.

Orioles -- Recalled P Joe Borowski from Double-A Bowie. Optioned P Rick Krivda to Triple-A Rochester.

Oakland Athletics -- Purchased the contract of P Doug Johns from Triple-A Edmonton. Designated P Dave Leiper for assignment.

Buffalo Sabres -- Traded RW Alexander Mogilny and a fifth-round draft choice to the Vancouver Canucks for RW Mike Peca, D Mike Wilson and their first-round draft choice, the 14th overall selection, in yesterday's draft.

Detroit Red Wings -- Signed D Anders Eriksson, their first-round pick in 1993, to a four-year contract.

New York Islanders -- Signed F Todd Bertuzzi, first-round choice in the 1993 draft.

New York rangers -- Signed C Niklas Sundstrom, a 1993 first-round choice, and G Dan Cloutier, a 1994 first-round pick.

St. Louis Blues -- Signed free-agent C Dale Hawerchuk. Re-signed C Adam Creighton.

Tampa Bay Lightning -- Signed G Tyler Moss.

Toronto Maple Leafs -- Acquired D Larry Murphy from the Pittsburgh Penguins for D Dmitri Mironov and their second-round pick in the 1996 draft.

Washington Capitals -- Signed D Nolan Baumgartner, their first-round pick in the 1994 draft, to a four-year contract. Signed D Brendan Witt, their first-round choice in the 1993 draft, to a five-year contract. Traded LW Dmitri Khristich and G Byron Dafoe to Los Angeles in exchange for the Kings' first- and fourth-round choices in 1996.
