Smithburg takes pride

The town of Smithburg will hold its second annual Smithburg Pride Days July 15 and 16. Activities both days begin at 6 a.m. with a pancake breakfast. Among the attractions are live entertainment, a Saturday morning parade, crafts, food, children's games, an art exhibit, Little Sluggers' baseball tournament, a Civil War display and a street dance Saturday night. Hours are 6 a.m. to midnight, Saturday; 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Free. Call (301) 824-7234.

Travel savvy

The fourth in a series of meetings for the traveler will be presented July 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Passenger Stop -- Your Travel Store, 740 Dulaney Valley Road. A representative from Globe Pequot Press, publishers of travel guides, will discuss Berlitz, getaway weekends, the day trip and other topics.
