Man, 38, charged with attempted robbery of woman

June 28, 1995

A 38-year-old Columbia man was being held in lieu of $10,000 bond yesterday on charges that he tried to rob a woman in Columbia's Hickory Ridge village Saturday, Howard County police said.

The victim was not injured, police said.

Richard Lee Dallas, of the 10500 block of Faulkner Ridge Circle in the Wilde Lake village, was being held at the Howard County Detention Center yesterday, a District Court commissioner said.

Police say about 12:15 a.m., a man surprised a 29-year-old Columbia woman as she got out of her car in the 12000 block of Little Patuxent Parkway and tried to pull her book bag from her shoulder.

When the woman resisted, the man ran to a nearby car and drove off. The woman called police, who spotted and stopped the car on Hickory Ridge Road, police said.
