Series of educational programs offered

Living history interpreter Mary Ann Jung will present a program on Clara Barton at 9 a.m. July 11 at the Captain Salem Avery House Museum.

Sponsored by the Shady Side Rural Heritage Museum, the program is the first of the Children's Summer Educational Series.

Other topics are the habitat of amphibians, July 18; a demonstration on pollution and its sources, July 25; reptiles, Aug. 1; blue crabs, Aug. 8; and a field trip to Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, Aug. 15.

Admission is $4 per program, or $20 for the series.

POLICE LOG

* Annapolis: About $700 worth of furniture was stolen from the basement of a house in the 3100 block of Catrina Lane between Thursday and Friday. There were no signs of forced entry.

* Annapolis: An amplifier, $120 in cash and a pair of speakers worth $380 were taken from a car that was parked in the unit 100 block of Groh Lane between Saturday night and 12:18 p.m. Sunday.

* Edgewater: A 17-foot canoe was stolen from the 1500 block of Webster Place between 6 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

* Lothian: A green, motorless golf cart worth $500 that was chined to a tree in the 5200 block of Moreland Road. The incident occurred between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
