Teen crossing U.S. 50 is killed by car

June 21, 1995

A 15-year-old boy from Revell Downs was hit by a car and killed Monday night when he tried to run across the westbound lanes of U.S. 50, state police said.

Donald Jackson Jr. of the 600 block of Broadneck Road received head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the 9:20 p.m. accident. He had just crossed the eastbound lanes with two friends when he tried to make his run across the westbound lanes.

Janet E. Hryn, 50, of the 500 block of Bramblewood Court in Millersville, who was driving her 1993 Toyota Camry, couldn't avoid hitting the boy, police said.

The youth and his friends had just come from a McDonald's restaurant on the south side of U.S. 50 and were trying to reach a Roy Rogers restaurant on the north side, police said.
