Silver Spring man, 31, is killed when thrown from motorcycle

A 31-year-old Silver Spring man was killed Monday when he was thrown from a speeding motorcycle on U.S. 29 in Scaggsville, police said.

David Potter of the 13000 block of Colgate Way was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police investigators said Mr. Potter was riding his Honda north on U.S. 29, just north of Johns Hopkins Road, about 7 p.m. when he steered the motorcycle onto the right shoulder of the road and lost control.

8300 block of Autumn Way: A maroon 1995 Nissan Sentra with temporary Maryland tags 80666K was stolen Friday, police said.

8200 block of U.S. 1: Someone entered a mobile home at Eastern Mobile Homes and took a table and chairs Friday, police said.
