A Severn woman was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with shoplifting $59 worth of clothes from the Ames store in Pasadena, county police said.
William A. Long Jr., 33, a security agent at the store in the 8100 block of Ritchie Highway, saw a woman come in shortly before 5 p.m. carrying a large, brown purse.
Mr. Long told police he stopped the woman after he saw her stuff two pairs of shorts, two shirts and a blouse into the purse and then try to leave the store.
Dale Jean Emerson, 40, of the 1400 block of Maryland Ave. was charged with misdemeanor theft. Police added a trespassing charge after Mr. Long told them he had caught her shoplifting on May 6 and warned her she was banned from the store.
