County Council to discuss extra expenditures

Anne Arundel County Council members will consider tonight the last-minute expenditure of millions of dollars for public schools, recreation, senior care and public safety for the fiscal year that ends July 1.

Two fourth-quarter fund transfers will go before the council when it meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Arundel Center in Annapolis.

One would authorize the county Board of Education to spend $6.3 million in additional federal aid and surplus money.

The other would transfer $1.2 million from other surplus accounts to cover extra expenditures for police patrols, recreation equipment and senior care.
