Man faces drug charges

A Harper's Choice Village man was charged after Howard County police seized residue-stained pipes used for smoking crack cocaine and small plastic bags for packaging it at a Columbia apartment in the Waverly Winds development Monday night, police said.

Ronald Dimitrius Bates, 37, of the 5500 block of Cedar Lane was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. A District Court commissioner released Mr. Bates on personal recognizance.

* Wilde Lake: 5000 block of Lake Circle West: A burglar entered a garage through an unlocked rear door Monday, took a tree stand and bow and arrows, and then searched through a car parked outside Monday, police said.

* Hickory Ridge: 6100 block of Sunny Spring: Someone kicked in office windows at the Hawthorne Pool late Friday or Saturday, entered and took cash boxes, police said.

11600 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: Someone broke an office window at the Clary's Forest Pool on Saturday, entered and stole a cash box.
