Defending champion Andrea Kraus and Cindy Peterka scored semifinal victories in the 63rd Women's Metropolitan championship at Maryland Golf & Country Club yesterday, setting up a rematch of a 1993 final won by Kraus.

Kraus, from Woodholme Country Club, was even par for 13 holes in beating Connie Pifer of Hunt Valley GC, 6 and 5. She will be seeking her sixth Metro title, and third in a row against Peterka, a 1-up winner over Ronda Henderson.

Kraus put this one away after she won four successive holes in the middle of the front nine. Pifer, who lost to Kraus in last year's final, won only the eighth hole, with a par, but Kraus turned 5 up and took the 10th with a birdie.

Peterka, a Sparrows Point Country Club member who has won three Metros, never trailed in her match with Henderson, of Diamond Ridge Golf Course. Henderson was 2 down after the seventh hole, but won the eighth with a par and the ninth with a birdie. Even after the 12th, Peterka won the 13th and kept the margin.
