A 36-year-old Westminster man remained in the Carroll County Detention Center yesterday after being accused of two weekend robberies and leading police on a high-speed chase.

Ivan Leroy Sullivan Jr. of the 200 block of E. Green St. was charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of theft and three counts of assault. His bond was set at $20,000 by a court commissioner Sunday, and that bond remained unchanged after a bail review hearing yesterday.

Police said a man walked into the High's Dairy store at Routes 32 and 91 in Gamber about 6:40 p.m. Sunday, threatened the clerk and demanded money from the register. No weapon was seen. The man fled with about $60, police said.

Police said the car was headed toward Baltimore when it stopped at the side of Liberty Road, where a state trooper arrested the driver without incident.

Police said $60 was recovered from the man, who was taken to the Westminster barracks for questioning.

The Little George's convenience store in the 7200 block of Gaither Road was robbed about 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Police said a man walked into the store while the clerk was talking on the phone, picked up a bag of potato chips and approached the register.

Police said that when the cashier opened the register, the man grabbed the phone, pushed her to the side, pressed the mute button on the phone and demanded money.

Police said $280 was taken in Saturday's robbery.
