Locked counter door fails to foil restaurant robber

June 06, 1995

A man broke through a locked door leading to the counter area of a Millersville Subway shop Sunday night and forced an employee to hand over an undisclosed amount of cash, county police said yesterday.

The man entered the shop in the Northway Shopping Center in the 8600 block of Veterans Highway about 8:45 p.m. and asked a 17-year-old employee if he could use the restroom. The youth told him yes, and the man went to the back of the store.

A few minutes later, the man broke through the door and ordered the employee to give him money from the cash register. He told the youth not to look up or he would kill him. The employee handed over the money, and the man ran from the store. The robber displayed no weapon, police said.
