County inspectors visited 154 restaurant and food handling businesses between May 1 and May 15 to check for health and safety violations.

The establishments are evaluated in the nine areas most likely to contribute to food-related illnesses. Eighteen businesses were found in violation of county codes and were required to make immediate corrections. Several required reinspection.

* Bavarian Soft Pretzel, Harundale Mall, Glen Burnie. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Bayside Inn, 1200 block of Mayo Road, Edgewater. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Safeway, 1700 block of Forest Drive, Annapolis. Food not properly cooled.

* Boston Chicken, 7900 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie. Food not properly cooled.

* Smokin' Jo's, 2000 block of West St., Annapolis. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Speak Easy, 7600 block of B & A Blvd., Glen Burnie. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Kentucky Fried Chicken, Ritchie Highway and Vermont Avenue, Glen Burnie. Food not held at proper temperature; reinspection required.

* Sbarro's, 7900 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie. Food not held at proper temperature; reinspection required.

* Westinghouse MAC Building, 7000 block of Aviation Blvd., Glen Burnie. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Mai Kai Bar and Restaurant, first block of South River Road, Edgewater. Food not held at proper temperature; food spoiled or adulterated.

* Cantler's Riverside Inn, 400 block of Forest Beach Road, Annapolis. Food not held at proper temperature; reinspection required.

* Domino's Pizza, Route 3 South, Millersville. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Meade Superette, 1600 block of Annapolis Road, Odenton. Food not held at proper temperature.
