BABE RUTH BIRTHPLACE AND BALTIMORE ORIOLES MUSEUM, 216 Emory St., (410) 727-1539. Memorabilia-filled sports museum. Contact: Helen Campbell. Reserve one month in advance. Accommodates 50 seated, 125 people standing. Available evenings only. Cost: $400. Approved caterer only.

B&O RAILROAD MUSEUM, 901 W. Pratt St., (410) 752-2463. The birthplace of American railroading. Contact: Stacey Eagan. Reserve early. Accommodates up to 700 seated, 2,200 standing. Available daily after 5 p.m. List of approved caterers available. Cost for basic rental: $2,100 for the first 200 guests, $6 per person over 200. Basic rental includes security, on-premises staffing and secure parking for 240 cars.

BALTIMORE MUSEUM OF ART, Art Museum Drive, (410) 396-6078. Contact: Denise Harper. Reserve three to six months in advance. Accommodates 60 to 520 seated, 125 to 800 standing, depending on areas used. Available 8:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesdays to Fridays, 7 p.m. until 1 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays. List of suggested caterers available, others subject to museum's approval. Cost: $1,700 to $5,000 and up.

BALTIMORE MUSEUM OF INDUSTRY, 1415 Key Highway, (410) 727-4808. A showcase for industrial work settings. Contact: Kim Anderson. Reserve one month in advance. Accommodates 250 seated, 500 standing. Available every day from 6 p.m. to midnight except Wednesdays. Caterers subject to approval. Cost: $500 for four hours, plus $2.50 per person. Deck and grounds may be rented for an additional $150. No smoking inside.

THE BALTIMORE ROWING AND WATER RESOURCE CENTER, 3301 Waterview Ave., (410) 396-3838. Situated on the Patapsco River. Contact: Thayer Robinson. Reserve six months in advance. Accommodates 100 seated, 250 standing. Available evenings and Saturdays. Caterers must provide their own insurance. Cost: $600 for eight hours.

BILTMORE SUITES, 205 W. Madison St., (410) 728-6550. Victorian mansion decorated with antiques. Contact: Romana Franklin. Reserve at least 60 days in advance. Accommodates up to 25 seated, depending on the season, up to 100 standing. In-house catering available. Cost: $500. List of approved caterers available.

BLUE HERON CENTER, Quiet Waters Park, 600 Quiet Waters Park Road, Annapolis, (410) 222-1777. Indoor facility at Anne Arundel County park overlooks Victorian-style formal gardens. Contact: Mary Northam. Reservations taken up to one year in advance. Accommodates 150 seated, 220 standing. Available daily, except Tuesdays, until midnight. Cost varies. In-house catering only.

BOWLING BROOK COUNTRY INN, 6000 Middleburg Road, Middleburg, (410) 876-2893. Nineteenth-century manor house. Contact: David Welsh at Westminster Inn. Reserve as soon as possible. Accommodates 200 (more outdoors with the use of tents). No facility fee with use of Westminster Inn Caterers. Cost: approximately $20 per person and up.

CARROLL COUNTY FARM MUSEUM, 500 S. Center St., Westminster, (410) 848-7775. More than 140 acres with 19th-century gardens. Contact: Dottie Freeman. Reserve three months in advance. Accommodates 100 under a covered pavilion. Cost: $75 for pavilion rental and $3 per adult, $2 for 7- to 18-year-olds and those over 60. No charge for those under 6. Music and caterers subject to museum's approval. Alcohol prohibited.

CERESVILLE MANSION, 8529 Liberty Road, Frederick, (301) 694-5111. Victorian mansion surrounded by elegant gardens. Contact: Olivia Heabey. Reserve as soon as possible. Accommodates 200 seated, 250 buffet style. Available daily. Cost: $40 per person and up. In-house catering only.

CLARION INN-PIER 5, 711 Eastern Ave., (410) 783-5553. Expansive view of the Inner Harbor. Contact: Magdy Mishraky. Reserve as soon as possible. The Skipjack Room accommodates 50-150; Pier 5 Restaurant accommodates up to 300; and the Ballroom accommodates up to 200. Available daily. Cost: approximately $23 to $49 per person. In-house catering only.

DANIELLE'S BLUECREST, 401 Reisterstown Road, (410) 486-2100. Banquet hall with two rooms, the Ballroom and the Orchid Room. Contact: Danielle Mosse. Accommodates up to 700 seated, up to 1,200 standing. Available every day. Kosher menus are available. Cost: lunch from $18 to $25 per person, dinner from $20 to $30.

Accommodates 80 guests in the theater; up to 240 standing in the Carriage House. Cost: $1,800 for the theater; $1,500 for the house; $600 additional charge for garden use. Caterers and tent suppliers must be approved. No smoking.
