Atlanta Braves -- Announced OF David Justice will be placed on the 15-day DL, effective today, with a torn ligament in his right shoulder. Purchased the contract of OF Brian Kowitz from Triple-A Richmond.

Orioles -- Recalled OF Curtis Goodwin and C Cesar Devarez from Triple-A Rochester. Placed OF Andy Van Slyke on the 15-day DL, retroactive to May 31. Sent OF Damon Buford to Rochester.

Chicago Cubs -- Agreed to terms with C Rick Wilkins on a one-year contract. Released OF Felix Jose from Triple-A Iowa.

Chicago White Sox -- Fired manager Gene Lamont, pitching coach Jackie Brown and bullpen coach Rick Peterson. Named (( third base coach Terry Bevington manager, Don Cooper pitching coach and Roly de Armas bullpen coach. Moved first base coach Doug Mansolino to third base and named Ron Jackson first base coach.

Cincinnati Reds -- Placed OF Deion Sanders on the 15-day DL, retroactive to June 1, with a sprained left ankle. Placed P Jose Rijo on the 15-day DL with tendinitis in his right elbow. Recalled P C. J. Nitkowski from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Florida Marlins -- Extended the contract of OF Jeff Conine through the 1997 season with a club option for 1998.

Minnesota Twins -- Signed C Shane Gunderson.

New York Mets -- Signed SS Ryan Jaroncyk and assigned him to the Gulf Coast rookie league.

Seattle Mariners -- Placed P Bill Risley on the 15-day DL. Recalled P Solomon Torres from Triple-A Tacoma.

Texas Rangers -- Signed P Danny Kolb and OF Craig Monroe.

Toronto Blue Jays -- Activated P Duane Ward from the 15-day DL. Optioned P Ed Hurtado to Double-A Knoxville.

Basketball

Portland Trail Blazers -- Announced they have obtained a 1995 first-round draft choice from the Houston Rockets to complete the Clyde Drexler trade.

Toronto Raptors -- Named Brendan Malone coach.

College

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference -- Extended the contract of Richard Ensor, commissioner, through 1998. Named Barbara Church associate commissioner of finance and compliance. Announced the addition of Fairfield to the football league starting the 1996 season. Announced the addition of a men's lacrosse league starting the spring of 1996 and a women's lacrosse league starting the spring of 1997.

Green Bay Packers -- Signed CB Doug Evans, LB George Koonce and G Adam Timmerman.
