The morning crew from WIYY-FM (97.9) may have gotten close to the heart of one of America's most recent celebrities in their funny TV/radio spots advertising Brian "Kato" Kaelin's 98 Rock appearance Monday morning.

"Yes," "yes," "yes," he said repeatedly in the spots, using actual clips from his testimony in the O. J. Simpson trial.

What does he really have to say?

Billed by the station as "America's foremost houseguest," Mr. Kaelin is scheduled to appear on the air with the 98 Rock morning team of Byrd, Mark & Lopez from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, from the Baja Beach Club at 55 Market Place.

The public is invited, and Mr. Kaelin will be signing autographs.

"All Things Considered" is giving listeners more local items to consider.

The National Public Radio weekday afternoon news magazine expands on Monday by 30 minutes and will now be heard from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on WJHU-FM (88.1).

NPR says the schedule change was aimed at allowing local stations to do more inserts for traffic, weather, news and other local matters.

On WJHU, the extension will push the daily "Marketplace" program to 7 p.m. The Monday-Thursday "Marc Steiner Show" will now be heard from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

Joe Clark, former New Jersey high school principal whose tough tactics were dramatized in the film "Lean on Me," is the scheduled guest of "The Tom Marr Show" at 1 p.m. Tuesday on WCBM-AM (680).

Mr. Clark last week launched his own syndicated radio talk show in New York. It is not broadcast in the Baltimore area.

Listeners to WOCT-FM (104.3) who think they have musical talent have a chance to jam with Jimmy Buffett June 13 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia.

In a promotion suggested by the pop star, the '70s music format station, the Colt, is holding auditions to pick one musician to play on stage with Mr. Buffett and his band during the concert, specifically on the song "Cheeseburger in Paradise."

The celebrity-judged competition is scheduled from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bohager's, 515 S. Eden St. in Fells Point. Registration opens at 4:30 p.m., and the first 30 to sign up will get to audition. Six semifinalists will win tickets to the show, and the performer chosen to play in the concert also wins a Gibson guitar.

Is it really all happening at the zoo?

With apologies to Simon and Garfunkel, Aircheck notes that Roger C. Birkel, the newly named executive director of the Baltimore Zoo, is the scheduled guest of "The Marc Steiner Show" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on WJHU-FM (88.1).
