THEFT FROM AUTO: Central District -- A 5-inch color television and a 6-inch pocket knife were stolen from a 1987 Dodge van parked in the first block of Arch St. sometime between 11:45 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. yesterday.

FIRE: East Baltimore -- A fire broke out at a house in the 1700 block of Chapel St. yesterday shortly after 10 a.m., causing an estimated $28,000 in damage. The fire was started by an overheated electrical cord in a second-floor back bedroom. A 32-year-old woman jumped from the second floor and broke both her ankles. She was being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Baltimore County

BURGLARY: Catonsville Precinct -- An unknown person broke the front window of a High's Store in the 3800 block of Hollins Ferry Road Wednesday between 11 p.m. and 11:36 p.m. and stole cigarettes.

ASSAULT BY AUTO: Garrison Precinct -- A 23-year-old woman was crossing the street at the intersection of Town Center Place and Old Court Road about 1:30 p.m. yesterday when a 1989 Nissan Pulsar speeded up as it approached her and, she believed, tried to hit her. She reported the tag number to police.

ARMED ROBBERY: Towson Precinct -- Two men in their mid-30s, one of them with a handgun, robbed the Kentucky Fried Chicken in the 200 block of York Road about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. They escaped with $350.

BURGLARY: Towson Precinct -- Someone threw a rock through the front glass door of a Royal Farms store in the 600 block of Southwick Drive about 1:20 a.m. yesterday and took an unknown amount of merchandise.

BANK ROBBERY: Cockeysville Precinct -- A man entered the Fairfax Savings Bank in the 9900 block of York Road about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday and gave a teller a note that read, "Give me $10,000 and no ink packs. I have a gun." The man escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

THEFT FROM AUTO: Parkville Precinct -- The trunk of a 1993 Ford Taurus was broken into between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday and a black and blue cloth suitcase containing earrings and bracelets, valued at $50,000, was stolen. The car was parked at the intersection of Harford and Joppa roads.

BURGLARY: White Marsh Precinct -- A locker at a storage business in the 9000 block of Pent Angel Way was broken into about 9 a.m. yesterday and $5,000 worth of property was stolen.
