It's official. Festival season has begun.

There's something wonderful about spending the day in the sun, listening to music, perhaps dancing in the street and eating lots of good food. Festivals offer everyone a chance to learn about a new culture, discover a Baltimore neighborhood, watch artists and crafts people at work or even develop cravings for kielbasa, corn dogs and fried dough. This weekend, there are at least four festivals taking place around Baltimore.

The annual Polish Festival is at Patterson Park. Hours are today from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and tomorrow and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. Admission is $2, free for children 12 and under. Call (410) 837-4636.

Tomorrow, there's the Hampden Summer Fair, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. around the 800 block of W. 36th Street. Highlights include live music on two stages and the crowning of Baltimore's Best Hon. Admission is free. Call (410) 235-0406. Also tomorrow, from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m., the Latino Festival will take place at Hopkins Plaza. Enjoy Latin music and dancing and ethnic food. Admission is free. Call (410) 732-4911.

In Federal Hill, it's the annual Fun Fest, Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. Live music by Jr. Cline and the Recliners, Unity and others. Admission is free. Call (410) 625-1400.
