Man robbed near Severn-Danza Park

June 01, 1995

A 49-year-old Severn man was robbed late Tuesday as he stopped to retrieve aluminum cans from a garbage can while he was riding his bicycle near Severn-Danza Park, county police said yesterday.

Police said Tom C. Baker of the 8200 block of Deerfield Circle had bent down to pick up a can about 11:30 p.m. when a man walked up behind him, grabbed him by the chest and held a sharp, cold object to his throat while another person went through his pockets and took a $10 bill, a $5 gold-colored watch and a $79 portable radio.

The men fled through woods in the rear of the park, police said.

Officers with dogs searched the area but did not find the robbers, police said.
