A headline in yesterday's Table Talk in The Sun's Maryland Live section contained incorrect information. The Bread Place bakery in Annapolis remains open, and a new restaurant, Cafe Rendezvous, has been added to the bakery at 1410 Forest Drive.
FOR THE RECORD - CORRECTION
The Sun regrets the errors.
The new Cafe Rendezvous in Annapolis has specialties like salmon on a citrus salsa and a veal chop with grilled vegetables and a wild mushroom demi-glace -- not what you'd expect from a cafe that opened in a bakery. Philippe Bind, originally from Strasbourg, is the chef of the 50-seat restaurant located in the Bread Place. You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner here, on the terrace if you like. The wine list includes 42 wines by the glass. Cafe Rendezvous and the Bread Place can be found at 1410 Forest Drive.
* Last week the family-owned Indian restaurant Akbar opened its third location in Columbia, at 4100 Snowden River Parkway. (The first Akbar opened in the city a decade ago; the second is in Randallstown.) The newest Akbar specializes in northern Indian cuisine and has the same menu as well as the same name as its successful siblings.
* Offering such delights as an iced raisin pretzel and pretzels covered with chocolate, honey-nut and maple walnut toppings, the Pretzel Mill has its first store in the Harborplace Light Street Pavilion, on the first floor where Ms. Desserts used to be. The new Maryland franchise plans to open 40 stores nationwide in the next year or so.
* For 15 years Bob Huhme worked at the Orchard Inn in Towson. Now he and partner Lynn Woodzelle have bought the Elmwood Tavern in Overlea. The new menu for this popular neighborhood establishment includes oysters Elmwood, baby back ribs Thursday nights, prime rib Friday nights, family-style fried chicken dinners on Sundays, Lynn's meat loaf and lots of affordable seafood dishes. The address is 4423-25 Kenwood Ave.
