Students to plant memorial tree
Students at the Young School, a private elementary school in Howard County, will take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for a $3.1 million facility by planting a tree in memory of the children who were injured and killed in the Oklahoma City bombing.
The ceremony and tree planting will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the 9-acre site off Riverwood Drive in the Village of Kings Contrivance.
The school will have 14 classrooms and will include a media center, an advanced computer lab connected to the Internet and a combination gymnasium, cafeteria and auditorium.
The Young School, founded in 1988, stresses a "hands-on approach" to learning. The new building will open in the fall.
