Fund to benefit lone survivor of plane crash

April 30, 1995

The family and friends of a Hampstead woman who was critically injured in an Eldersburg plane crash have begun a benefit fund to help pay her medical expenses.

Angela Pownell, 28, a University of Maryland nursing student, remains in critical condition at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Critical Care Unit.

She is the only survivor among four people who were in the Cessna Skyhawk 2 when it crashed in a residential area near Wolf Airport April 7.

Hopkins officials indicated that flowers and other expressions of support for Ms. Pownell have been so numerous that the hospital is unable to accommodate them.

Contributions to the fund should be sent to the Angie (Pettie) Pownell Rehabilitation Fund, c/o Carroll County Bank and Trust Co., 999 S. Main St., P.O. Box 672, Hampstead 21074, Attn: Bonnie W. Cook.
