2 men face charges of theft, drug possession

April 28, 1995

Two men sitting in a stolen car in a no-parking zone at Hillsmere Beach were arrested Tuesday morning on theft and drug charges, county police said.

Southern District Officer Robert Shiflet was on patrol about 1:30 a.m. near Hillsmere Drive and Bay View Drive when he saw a 1991 Pontiac Firebird.

The man in the driver's seat identified himself as Jeffrey Thomas McCoy, 26, of the 6800 block of Hill Meade Road in Bowie, and the passenger identified himself as Thomas Brian Holland, 45, of the 800 block of Betsy Court in Annapolis, police said.

A computer check revealed that the car had been stolen in Prince George's County Monday and that there was a warrant for Mr. McCoy's arrest.

Both men were arrested, and Officer Robert Mack, who had come to assist Officer Shiflet, found a bag of crack cocaine between the passenger's seat and door, the police report said.

Both men were charged with car theft and possession of crack cocaine.
