Land trust takes over riverside area

April 26, 1995

The Severn River Land Trust has taken over a conservation easement on 19.6 acres along the Severn River near Arnold.

The area, which includes steep wooded slopes near Pine Lane, had been in an easement held by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation since 1980. The foundation turned it over to the local land trust because foundation officials felt the trust could better monitor the site.

The easement, originally conveyed to the foundation by Pine Lane Associates, limits development to seven houses. Keeping the waterfront wooded prevents the soil from eroding into the Severn River.

Teen is arrested in assault on man

An Annapolis youth was charged as a juvenile with assault and disorderly conduct Monday morning after a man was hit on the head with a pipe, county police said.

The 16-year-old boy, who lives in the first block of Arbor Hill Road, was released to his guardian. The victim, Michael J. Sost, 22, of the 5900 block of Old Solomons Island Road, refused medical treatment, police said.

The incident occurred in the first block of Tydings Road in Arnold about 12:45 a.m. Eastern District officers went to the block after someone reported a fight. When they arrived, they arrested the juvenile and Anthony L. Wallace, 24, also of the first block of Arbor Hill Road, on disorderly conduct charges.

After both were in custody, officers learned about the assault on Mr. Sost.
