Shoplifting arrest leads to drug counts against pair

April 25, 1995

The arrest of a Baltimore man on shoplifting charges Sunday afternoon led to the arrest of two other men on drug charges, county police said.

Keith Russell, 26, a security officer at Best Buy, in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway, told police he saw a man hide several compact disks in his jacket and then go to the men's room shortly after 4 p.m.

Mr. Russell called police and pointed out the suspect to Northern District Officer Michael Barclay.

Officer Barclay searched the man as he tried to leave the store and, when he found eight compact discs, arrested him, a police report said.

Mr. Russell noticed a 1993 Chevrolet Beretta in the parking lot with two men who appeared to be waiting for someone. As Officer Barclay questioned the pair, he saw a syringe under the passenger seat and one by the driver's side door, police said, and found two capsules of heroin on the driver and a pipe on the back seat.

James Alfonzo Delly, 30, of the 4300 block of Seminole Ave. in Baltimore was charged with theft. Jason Marshal Covington, 23, of the 400 block of Burwood Ave. in Glen Burnie was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Albert Lee Sherry, 32, of the 800 block of Washington Blvd. in Baltimore was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
