The good and the bad from the Orioles' 8-7 exhibition victory over the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday:

HIGHLIGHTS * Left-hander Sid Fernandez enjoyed his first good outing of the spring. He pitched four strong innings, allowing one run on two hits and did not register a walk or a strikeout.

* Center fielder Andy Van Slyke hit a three-run home run to cap the Orioles' six-run sixth inning. Shortstop Cal Ripken's two-run single earlier in the sixth gave the Orioles a 3-2 lead.

* Designated hitter Harold Baines went 2-for-3 with a home run.

* Shortstop Manny Alexander singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.

* Manager Phil Regan notched his first victory at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

LOWLIGHT * Reliever Jesse Orosco was hit hard and failed to hold a 7-2 lead in the ninth inning. The veteran left-hander gave up five runs (three earned), two hits and two walks in one-third of an inning.
