25 Years Ago (week of April 12-18, 1970)

* Wilde Lake board members expressed concern over future plans for the Columbia Mall as presented by the Rouse Company. The board felt that plans for 400 stores and a 16,000-space parking lot were "frightening."

* Gov. Marvin Mandel appointed James Pfefferkorn of Glenelg to a post on the Howard County school board. He was to fill a position that had been held for 17 years by Gertrude Crist, who is scheduled to retire May 1.

50 Years Ago (Week of April 15-21, 1945):

* County residents were reminded that the United National Clothing Collection was in its final days.

* Air Force Lt. Richard Craig Berryman of Elkridge was reported missing in action while on his ninth bombing mission over Germany.
