2 arrested on drug charges in Glen Burnie

A man and a woman who drew police attention because they were standing under a "No Loitering" sign in Glen Burnie were arrested on drug charges Thursday night, county police said.

Mr. Pak was charged with assault and battery, police said.

Tax refund check stolen from mailbox

The check was in the mail for a Severn woman, and then it wasn't.

Someone stole a $1,795 income tax refund check from Gertrude Hall's mailbox between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

The woman told police she went to her mailbox and found an opened federal income tax envelope with nothing in it.

The check belonged to Ms. Hall's daughter, Tonia Michelle Saunders, 21. The case has been turned over to the postal inspectors.

Man attacked near bar will press charges

A Severna Park man who was attacked outside of A. L. Gator's bar in Pasadena on Friday said he would press charges against his assailant even if it means returning to Maryland after he moves to Florida in four weeks, county police said.

Mark Jones, 25, of the 200 block of Kennedy Drive was not seriously injured.

Mr. Jones was talking to two women outside of the Fort Smallwood Road bar about 1:50 a.m. when a man jumped him from behind.

The assailant punched the victim three times in the eye and jaw, police said.

When Mr. Jones asked the man why he had struck him, the assailant walked to a 1986 Ford Bronco and drove off.

Mr. Jones took down the tag number of the vehicle and turned it over to police.

Refrigerator taken in garage burglary

Thieves broke into two homes under construction in Patuxent Glen last week and stole a $600 refrigerator and $150 worth of particle board, county police said.

The homes are being built by Patriot Homes of Columbia. Robert Joseph Allen, 32, a foreman, told police the burglars struck between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The refrigerator was stolen from a garage in the 200 block of Branchard Court and 15 sheets of particle board were taken from a house in the 1500 block of Ringe Road, police said.
