WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Three pitchers combined for a six-hit shutout as the New Britain Red Sox dealt the Bowie Baysox their sixth straight loss, 8-0, yesterday before 899 at Beehive Field in a Double-A Eastern League game.

The losing streak is one short of the Baysox's club record.

Todd Walker and Pedro Grifol each homered for New Britain (5-8).

The Baysox (3-11) stranded 12 runners, seven through the first three innings.

Red Sox starter Dan Serafini allowed four hits and walked five through the first five innings.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- James Lofton went 2-for-5 with four RBIs to lead Winston-Salem (8-6) past Frederick (5-9) in a Single-A Carolina League game. Four pitchers combined for the shutout.
