Outlook: The Capitals (17-17-7) and Hartford (18-18-5) are fighting for their playoff lives. The Capitals are rested, have a complete roster of players for the first time in a month and are approaching the game as a must win -- as are the Whalers. Going into last night's games, both the Caps and Whalers had seven games to play and were two points from being out of the playoffs. Jim Carey will be in net for Washington and Sean Burke, who played his 11th straight game last night, is expected to play for Hartford. The Whalers report that the status of LW Andy Cassells (bruised heel) was not known before last night's game. RW Jim Sandlak (fractured heel), RW Robert Kron (fractured thumb), and C Jimmy Carson (sprained shoulder) are all expected to miss tonight's game. The Capitals report D Igor Ulanov (broken foot) is out.
