Baltimore men charged in theft of library CDs

County police announced yesterday that they have arrested two Baltimore men in connection with the theft of about 1,300 compact discs from the Anne Arundel County public library system.

Grover Matthew Sizemore, 43, of the 2800 block of Washington Blvd., and Joseph Michael Moran, 37, of the 2700 block of Wilkens Ave., were arrested April 7 and charged with felony theft. Both men were released on their own recognizance, police said.

The men were arrested as a result of an investigation into the theft of CDs worth $17,000, which began in March when Nancy Choice, the library system's head of administrative services, found that CDs in active circulation were being sold at a Baltimore flea market.

On March 30, Dawn Michelle Sizemore, 28, of the 2800 block of Washington Blvd., was arrested and charged with felony theft in the case. She was released on her own recognizance.

Counterfeit $50 bill passed at liquor store

U.S. Treasury agents are investigating the origin of a counterfeit $50 bill passed to the clerk at a Parks Liquors store by a Lothian man, county police said.

The 71-year-old man, who lives in the first block of Ark Road, went to the store in the 400 block of Bay Front Road East about 1:45 p.m. Monday and bought a six-pack of beer. He gave the clerk a $50 bill that he later told police was given to him for work he had done in Deale. The man was not arrested.

Janice Yvonne Mistach, 39, the clerk, noticed the bill didn't feel right and checked it with a counterfeit detector pen. She contacted police when the bill proved to be a fake.

Annapolis man beaten, robbed near his home

An Annapolis man was beaten and robbed early Monday as he went to use a pay phone near his home, county police said.

James Andrew Mudrone, 30, was walking to Fuller's Store in the 700 block of Bestgate Road about 1 a.m. when someone hit him on the left hand. Two men pushed him down, kicked him in the side and took his wallet containing an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Mr. Mudrone reported the incident about 8:30 a.m. Monday when he went to Anne Arundel Medical Center for treatment of a severely swollen hand.

Delegate will speak at Republican dinner

The South County Republican Dinner Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Pirates Cove Restaurant in Galesville.
