AL -- Announced the retirement of Dick Butler, special assistant to the league president. Butler, 84, was a baseball executive for 49 years.

Atlanta Braves -- Agreed to terms with OF Ryan Klesko, C Javier Lopez and P Greg McMichael on one-year contracts. Renewed the contracts of P Mark Wohlers and P Terrell Wade.

Orioles -- Optioned 1B Paul Carey, OF Alex Ochoa, P Rick Krivda and P Jimmy Haynes to Triple-A Rochester.

Boston Red Sox -- Sent P Gar Finnvold, P Joe Hudson, P Brian Looney, P Keith Shepherd, P Mike Sullivan, P Bill Wertz, IF Bill Selby, OF Pat Lennon, OF Jose Malave, OF Glenn Murray and OF Benji Simonton to minor-league camp for reassignment.

Chicago Cubs -- OF Brian McRae agreed to terms on a one-year contract. Optioned OF Doug Glanville, IF Matt Franco, C Mike Hubbard and P Steve Dixon to Triple-A Iowa. Optioned P Ottis Smith and P Amaury Telemaco to Double-A Orlando. Orlando signed 1B Brant Brown, OF Pedro Valdes and P Terry Adams; released 3B Jose Viera. Orlando sent OF Dee Dowler and IF Mark Kingston to Single-A Daytona. Colorado Rockies -- Extended the contract of manager Don Baylor through the 1996 season.

Kansas City Royals -- Signed free-agent OF Felix Jose to a Triple-A contract.

Minnesota Twins -- Optioned P Gus Gandarillas, P Oscar Munoz, P Erik Schullstrom (former Orioles minor-leaguer), IF Steve Dunn, IF Denny Hocking, IF Brian Raabe and OF Rich Becker to Triple-A Salt Lake. Assigned P Scott Moten, P Todd Ritchie, P Hector Trinidad and OF Matt Lawton to their minor-league camp for a week before reporting to Double-A New Britain. Philadelphia Phillies -- Announced that former Orioles 3B Craig Worthington had cleared waivers.

Baltimore (CFL) -- Waived slotback Shawn Beals. Traded DB Stan Petry to Saskatchewan for future considerations.

Montreal Canadiens -- D Vladimir Malakhov agreed to a four-year contract.
